Trumbull Connecticut Honors Igor Sikorsky with Memorial
In 2015, the Igor I Sikorsky Archives collaborated with the town of Trumbull, Connecticut and the Trumbull Historical Society to create a permanent memorial to Igor Sikorsky. Igor Sikorsky moved to Trumbull, Connecticut in 1928 when he relocated the company, then called Sikorsky Manufacturing Company, from Long Island, New York to Stratford Connecticut. He lived in Trumbull for a total of 25 years.
The three-sided memorial commemorates Igor Sikorsky’s life and aviation achievements in Russia and the United States. It is located in Abraham Nichols Park at 1856 Huntington Turnpike and was dedicated at a ceremony on September 24, 2015.
