Sikorsky Archives Participates in Helicopter Day 2024

The Igor I. Sikorsky Historical Archives will take part in the Connecticut Air & Space Center’s Helicopter Day celebration on Saturday, July 13 Sunday, July 14, 2024. The event will feature multiple Sikorsky aircraft on display, including an S-52, S-55, Corsair, and the restored cabin of the S-60 Skycrane. In addition, Sikorsky Aircraft will have its autonomous S-76B Sikorsky Autonomous Research Aircraft (SARA) and S-70 Black Hawk Optionally-Piloted Vehicle (OPV) helicopters on display.
At noon, a ceremony will be held in which Sikorsky Aircraft will donate two S-76 aircraft to the Connecticut Air & Space Center.
To celebrate the 85th anniversary of the first flight of the VS-300 helicopter, which took place very close by the Center on September 14, 1939, the Sikorsky Archives will have packages for sale at the event that will offer Helicopter Day attendees the opportunity to own a piece of aviation history, an actual piece of the VS-300A helicopter’s fabric skin. The Sikorsky Archives will have a limited quantity of the VS-300A’s fabric skin swatches for sale at the event as part of the following packages:
